2026 Vancouver K-Town Guide: 8 Local Hot Spots Near Lougheed Station
The North Road area, located along the border of Burnaby and Coquitlam, is commonly known as Vancouver’s K-Town. Korean supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries, beauty stores, and small local businesses are all concentrated within this lively neighbourhood.
I’m Sunny, a local resident and small-business owner who has lived in Canada for more than 20 years. For this 2026 guide, I have selected eight places in three simple categories:
Shopping
Korean Food
Bakery Cafés
These are not just places listed on a map—I’ve also included my own local tips to help you discover something special at each stop!
🛒 Shopping: Two Korean Supermarkets
1. H-Mart Coquitlam
📍 Address: 329 North Road, Coquitlam
H-Mart Coquitlam is located in Hanin Village, one of the busiest Korean shopping plazas in the Lougheed K-Town area.
The supermarket carries a wide range of Korean groceries, including fresh vegetables, meat, seafood, kimchi, side dishes, sauces, noodles, frozen dumplings, rice cakes, and ready-to-eat meals.
Even if you do not plan to cook, H-Mart is a fun place to explore. You can discover Korean instant noodles, drinks, ice cream, chips, and other trendy snacks that may be difficult to find at regular Canadian supermarkets. The prepared-food section is also convenient for visitors who want to try Korean food without sitting down at a restaurant.
💡 Sunny’s Local Tips
Shop for affordable K-beauty products: Do not miss the cosmetics section inside H-Mart. It carries a selection of Korean skincare products, including cleansers, toners, serums, moisturizers, sunscreen, and sheet masks at very reasonable prices.
Visit ABC Store in the same plaza: Stop by ABC Store, a local dollar-and-gift shop filled with Korean and Japanese products. You can find stationery, kitchen items, Japanese dishes, household goods, and snacks, with many items under $5!
2. Hannam Supermarket
📍 Address: 4501 North Road, Burnaby
Hannam Supermarket is one of the best-known Korean grocery stores in the North Road area. It has a strong following among local Korean families and carries fresh produce, seafood, Korean barbecue cuts, marinated meat, tofu, kimchi, side dishes, noodles, frozen food, and traditional Korean ingredients.
Walking through the aisles provides a genuine glimpse into what Korean families actually cook and enjoy at home.
💡 Sunny’s Local Tips
Look for affordable Canadian souvenirs: Hannam carries a surprisingly good selection of Canadian souvenirs at reasonable prices, including Canadian honey, maple syrup, maple cookies, and maple candies.
Discover Tokyo Beauty: In the same building, you can visit Tokyo Beauty, a specialty store for Japanese cosmetics, skincare, toiletries, and household goods. You can enjoy both Korean and Japanese specialty shopping under one roof!
🥢 Korean Food: Four Local Restaurants
3. Toedam Korean Fusion BBQ
📍 Address: 329 North Road, Unit 250, Coquitlam
Located in the H-Mart plaza, Toedam Korean Fusion BBQ is a popular restaurant for Korean barbecue and shared meals. Its menu includes barbecue combinations, marinated meat, soups, cold noodles, and other Korean dishes designed for sharing with family or friends.
💡 Sunny’s Local Tip
Check the Daily Special: Toedam has recently offered an affordable $10.99 daily lunch special featuring two or three selected dishes. The menu changes regularly, so each visit brings a different choice! (Promotions can change, so verify before visiting).
4. Insadong Korean BBQ
📍 Address: 403 North Road, Unit 301, Coquitlam
Insadong Korean BBQ is one of North Road’s long-established Korean restaurants. The menu includes Korean barbecue combinations, bulgogi, short ribs, hot pots, tofu soup, japchae, and other classic Korean dishes cooked together right at your table grill.
💡 Sunny’s Local Tip
A Restaurant for Special Gatherings: Insadong offers a formal, polished, and spacious atmosphere, making it a fantastic choice for birthday celebrations, family gatherings, or treating business guests and visitors to a proper Korean meal. Reservations are recommended for weekends!
5. Onggi Korean Cuisine
📍 Address: 4501 North Road, Unit 103, Burnaby
Located in the Hannam Supermarket plaza, Onggi Korean Cuisine specializes in comforting, Korean home-style food. Its menu includes rice dishes, noodles, pancakes, soups, stews, and hot pots—ideal for experiencing everyday Korean comfort food.
💡 Sunny’s Local Tip
Try the Kimchi Jjigae: My personal recommendation is the Kimchi Jjigae (kimchi stew). Its rich, deep flavour is especially satisfying when it arrives bubbling hot with a bowl of steamed rice on a cool or rainy Vancouver day.
6. Papa’s Box
📍 Address: Second Level, The City of Lougheed, Burnaby
Papa’s Box is a casual Korean eatery located on the second level of The City of Lougheed, which is directly connected to Lougheed Town Centre SkyTrain Station. It serves a variety of familiar street-food classics including tteokbokki, gimbap, Korean-style black bean noodles, cold noodles, and pork cutlets.
💡 Sunny’s Local Tip
Affordable and Casual Korean Food: Papa’s Box is a great place to enjoy quick Korean street food without spending too much. Its convenient mall location makes it ideal for a quick lunch while shopping or a low-key introduction to Korean food.
☕ Bakery Cafés: Two Places for Korean-Style Bread
7. Maison Mori
📍 Address: 4501 North Road, Unit 111G, Burnaby
Maison Mori is a small, hidden Korean-style bakery in the Hannam Supermarket plaza. Although easy to miss from the street, it has a loyal following among local bread lovers. Their selection includes cream buns, red-bean bread, salt bread, cube-shaped bread, roll cakes, and seasonal pastries.
💡 Sunny’s Local Tip
Visit Before 2 P.M.: Because everything is baked fresh in small batches, many popular items sell out quickly. For the best selection, make sure to visit in the morning or early afternoon!
8. Paris Baguette
📍 Address: 311 North Road, Coquitlam
Paris Baguette is a Korean-founded bakery café that blends Asian-style breads and cakes with French-inspired pastries. The café offers freshly baked bread, croissants, sandwiches, cakes, and colourful desserts, alongside whole cakes for special celebrations.
💡 Sunny’s Local Tip
A Casual Place to Take a Break: With long operating hours, a spacious layout, and a full coffee menu, Paris Baguette is the most comfortable spot in the neighbourhood to sit down, chat with a friend, and take a relaxing break.
📍 How to Plan Your Lougheed K-Town Visit
You don’t need to rush to all eight places in one day! Here is a simple itinerary idea:
Explore: Start at either H-Mart or Hannam Supermarket.
Eat: Choose one Korean restaurant for lunch or dinner.
Relax: Finish your visit with coffee and freshly baked bread at a café.
👟 Traveler Notes:
Transit: The easiest starting point is Lougheed Town Centre SkyTrain Station.
Walking & Parking: Walking between plazas takes 15 to 20 minutes, so wear comfortable shoes. Plaza parking can get very busy on weekends!
What makes Lougheed K-Town special is the combination of food, shopping, and everyday community life. For visitors, it is an easy introduction to Korean culture in Metro Vancouver. For Korean Canadians, it feels like a comforting piece of home.
